And Our New Community Is

Fairview Manor! This beautiful community is located along Church Road near Freeway Airport. We are very excited to start building here. This community will have a similar feel to Woodmore North with its spacious one acre homesites. We are going to start selling the first phase of six lots in the next few weeks. These homes will be starting in the $500,000’s.

We are also excited to be building a new model in the community. Before the end of the year we will be unveiling a beautiful Sierra model, with some very special features. These include: a new health spa suite, an expanded family room with coffered ceilings, and an owner’s suite with a balcony retreat.

If you would like any more information about this upcoming community call 301-352-9111, email me, or come visit our Tara model at Woodmore North

Wondering How to Create the Perfect Extension of Your Indoor Living Area?

Credit via Creative Commons

A deck, patio, or garden deserves the same care and planning as any of the rooms inside the house.  Consider what ambiance you would like your outdoor space to convey and, more importantly, its purpose.  After deciding how the area will function, it is easy to complete the space.

Traffic Flow: Furniture should not block any of the entry/exit points such as sliding doors or steps.  If the outdoor space is not very big, try to place your seating facing the house rather than facing outdoors.  For example, if you have an elevated deck, place an L-shaped sofa or bench against the railings to allow easy access from the deck to the house.

Seating: The ideal outdoor space should have separate seating areas.  This is perfect for entertaining outdoors so guests can form different conversation groups.  If room allows, you should plan for a table for eating and seating that includes a sofa, bench or lounge chairs.

Accessories: To complete the look, add colorful accessories such as lanterns, an outdoor rug and pillows.  These will reflect your personal style and help your space come to life.  In addition, using the same colors you have throughout your home will make the outdoor space feel more like an extension of your indoor living area rather than a separate place. I love to use blue as the main accessory color because it naturally cools a sunny and open area.  Large planters in the corners help to anchor and define the space and, if you are going for a serene setting, add a large water feature or sculpture as the focal point.

Mid-Atlantic Builders Management Team Attends Builder Conference

Recently, the leadership team of Mid-Atlantic Builders attended the spring National Association of Home Builders “20 Club Program” conference in Vancouver, Canada.  Known also as the “Builder 20 Club”, this networking event brings together builders from all across the United States and Canada from non-competing markets, giving them an opportunity to share ideas in marketing, construction, design, and customer care.

The Builder 20 Club is comprised of a prestigious mix of builders who individually have been honored with numerous awards, in large part due to the wisdom and advice each has received from their peers which has helped strengthen their business operations.  An active Builder 20 member since 1995, Mid‑Atlantic’s affiliation with the Club has helped us attain Builder Magazine’s America’s Best Builder recognition and dozens of awards from our local building industry association, including many Builder of the Year accolades.  Builder 20 Club members are regarded as leaders in their markets, and each conference also provides updates on new design trends that we can offer to our customers.

Upon his return to Maryland from the Vancouver meeting, Mid-Atlantic’s president, Roger Lebbin, commented, “These conferences help our company learn the best practices from some of the best builders in Canada and the United States, and give us a competitive advantage over local builders who do not participate in these special, invitation-only events.”

The Housing Market is Picking Up Steam!

Even with all the positive news that is out there, there is still hesitation about whether or not now is the time to buy a home.  The experts are weighing in.  Investor Warren Buffet recently announced that he would invest in single-family homes, stating that if he had a way to manage them, he would buy a couple hundred thousand single-family homes and rent them out.

While investors are eager to buy up houses, they are also a good investment for the family wanting to move in and live in one.  National trends still show that housing prices are falling, yet it is important not to put too much weight on these statistics since distressed areas heavily weigh down the national average price of a new home.  According to a recent article, in many areas prices are actually rising.  This is definitely true in the Washington, D.C. area.

Now is the time to buy a home.  Waiting for prices to keep dropping is no longer a valid strategy, as they are likely to rise, not fall.  Lock in prices and mortgage rates before they are out of your reach.
