WHO’S GIVING: Mid-Atlantic Builders Inc.

WHO’S RECEIVING: Langworthy Boys’ Group Home in Hyattsville

WHAT’S BEING GIVEN: Renovations

BACKGROUND: Mid-Atlantic Builders, in partnership with Home Builders Care Foundation Inc, is bringing together its business partners, employees and friends to improve the 86 year old Langworthy Boys’ Group Home.  The home provides a place for long-term treatment of troubled adolescents.  The Home Builders Care Foundation, the charitable organization of the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association, started the in-kind construction project this month.  The renovations include new kitchen countertops, a new brick patio in the backyard, patching walls, re-shingling the roof, painting a porch and putting in new dining room ceiling tiles.  The home, operated by the Silver Spring-based nonprofit Hearts & Homes for Youth Inc., provides individual and group therapy, employability development, job placement, educational advocacy and support.

A FEW WORDS FROM THE SPONSOR: “Mid-Atlantic Builders has a long history of philanthropic involvement with the citizens of Prince George’s County,” says Roger Lebbin, the company’s president and founder.  “The Home Builders Care Foundation is close to my heart, and we are thrilled to help make the Langworthy Boys’ Home a better place to live under their auspices.
