Winterize Your Home
As the weather keeps getting colder and colder, it’s a good idea to start preparing your home for the winter. Below are a few steps that you can take:
- Have your furnace inspected and have filters on hand to last you through the next few months.
- Make sure your fireplace is ready by cleaning the chimney and making sure everything is working properly.
- Prevent plumbing freezes by making sure all your hoses are empty and checking all exposed pipes.
- Prune any landscaping to prevent winter injury to the plants and your house or electrical wiring.
- Prepare an emergency kit in case there is a weather event that causes the power to go out.
- Clean your gutters so that water does not freeze and create a blockage.
If you follow these steps, you and your home should be well prepared for whatever this winter throws at us!
