This new Modena model was built by students participating in the Prince George’s County Public Schools FACTS (Foundation of Automotive and Construction Technology for Students) program. Led by their teachers, the students built a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath house, all the way from laying the foundation to completion. 57 sponsors, 24 teachers, and 400 students worked together to complete this beautiful new home.

During the dedication ceremony, outstanding students were recognized for their achievements, and the fully decorated house is now on display and for sale. The Washington D.C. area’s April 2010 unemployment figure fell to 5.9%—a net gain of 5,800 new jobs, making the city tops in U.S. for new job growth. In a recent article in the Washington Post, local economists see this evidence as evidence that a real recovery is taking place.

“The losses are shrinking, and we’re getting more gains,” said Stephen S. Fuller, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University. “It’s certainly a strong indicator of the spreading recovery.”

A recent article in the Washington Times introduces readers to the charms of the Beechtree community:
